Title of the Reflection

information Security and what should we do to protect our files

First Impression

A n essay about how we can protect our own files and make sure that no files would be stolen again

Quote

If you spend more on coffee than on IT security, you will be hacked. What’s more, you deserve to be hacked.

Reflection Paper

There are more than 1 billion files or data that are stolen every year. One example of files being stolen is the Ashley Madison event, it is a social networking sites for men and women, and the hackers stole the files of million users, and published it so the public would see it and discover if their partners are registered in that website. IT people visits or associate with hackers so that they can learn on what to improve with their system, they can get tips or advices on what they should or can do. I think it would ethical for IT people to visit or associate with hackers, hackers then can exploit or know what is wrong with the company’s system and explain it. People would sell on blackmarket if they found vulnerability on the company’s system, but it can be avoided if the company would invest on their IT and make sure that no files would be stolen. If I found out that my company system can be penetrated  I would sell it on the black market, but if they give enough budget for me to have a or create a better system then I would tell the company what we should do so we can protect our system, files, and data. Company should invest more on their IT, even if it cost more money than what you have to lose, for example if the IT budget is 10M and the money you are protecting is just 1M you still should invest on it, because in the long run it would benefit them. Many companies have executives that are not trained in technology that’s why they don’t bother to invest on IT securities. If you ever have to negotiate with cybercriminals I think it would be a big risk because you are not sure if they still have their own copy of your files, and or data. The best way to prevent hackers from hacking your system or website, make sure to invest in your IT. Make sure to protected before you get caught off guard by the hackers, always remember that prevention is better than cure.

5 things I've learned

  1. 32 data record or files are being stolen every second
  2. IT people visit or associates with hackers to improve their system
  3. People would sell the fault with your system if you don't take care of them
  4. Always invest on your IT department because it will save your company from hackers
  5. Negotiating with cybercriminals is not reliable

5 integrative questions

  1.   How many records are being stolen every second?
  2. How do IT people improve their system?
  3. What can your employees do if you don't take care of them?
  4. Why should you invest on IT Department?
  5. Why should you not negotiate if possible with cybercriminals?
