An essay on what should they do with the hacked sony emails

Reflection Paper

Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc.(SPE) is the American entertainment subsidiary of Japanese multinational technology and media conglomerate Sony. Based in Culver City, California, it encompasses Sony's motion picturetelevision production and distribution units. Its group sales in March 31, 2014 has been reported to be of $8 billion. Throughout the years, SPE has produced, distributed, or co-distributed successful franchises such as Spider-ManMen in Black, Underworld, and Resident Evil. Sony Pictures Entertainment is a member of the Motion Picture Association of America.

Last year The Sony Picture Entertainment Inc. was Hacked the Confidential data included the personal information of their employees, e-mails between employees and clients, information about executive salaries at the company, copies of (previously) unreleased Sony films, and other information. Apparently the sales market record. The News Channel and rumor report that the North Korea are the responsible of this kind of incident, but they denied.

During the investigation the legal and security experts agreed there is little publically shred information by Sony or inside job or might be not accidentally. But the Sony Company lawyer say they claim all the responsible for any damage or loss. Beside of Sony Company there are a lot of Company experience but not like this.

Example the Marvel Entertainment was also recently linked the trailer movie “AVENGER” to the YouTube but they make way for change the trailer. However, despite of this there is a positive outcome that the fact is revealed---transparency, especially in terms of Financial, how much the cost of each movie? How the distribution or percentages will given to the head and employees or staff of each movie? Because of this issues will be lead into controversy if it is Publish or not to publish.

5 things I've learned

  1. “Sony is unlikely to prevail — either by eventually winning in court, or by scaring off prospective publishers — especially against the well-counseled, relatively deep-pocketed, and insured media organizations that it’s threatening,”
  2. These emails may be the most “newsworthy” of all the hacked items, mainly because they reveal a kind of “need to know” level of information about the company, its employees and its corporate culture.
  3. Another positive outcome of this hack is the fact that it revealed the pay disparity that still exists between actors and actresses in Hollywood. Charlize Theron found out she would make $10 million less than a male actor in a movie where they were costars of equal billing.
  4. “Actual information downloaded from their network is their property and it shouldn’t be used. The only purpose is to damage Sony and that was the purpose of the hackers,”
  5. . There is nothing to be gained by playing the “Telephone Game” in your publication, and that’s pretty much all that was done by sharing what the hackers found.

5 integrative questions

  1. What was the reason that there is little that Sony can do about the information that has been publically shared?
  2.  Where Sony’s lawyers claim that it will hold these news outlets “responsible for any damage or loss,” it is unlikely that they will be successful recovering damages in a court of law?
  3. Why less newsworthy information was released as well and reaction against the media for so-called “over covering” the event came swiftly?
  4. Why is there even one sentence in one private email that was stolen that even hints at wrongdoing of any kind?
  5. What can a journalist who is covering the Sony hack do?
